Red lanterns are often regarded as a symbol of prosperity and good fortune in Chinese culture. Red is the hue chosen for the gauze that covers the lantern, since red is considered an auspicious color that brings luck, well-being and affluence. In this scent composition, various essences in red are skillfully blended to make this concentrated red elixir. If we could bottle a red lantern, it would smell like La Lanterne Rouge.

The scent opens with an alluring mixture of red: Juicy red mandarins, sweet red dates, ruby-colored ripe goji berries and exotic saffron, the red stigmas. As the heart notes gradually unfurl, bouquets of “Dan Gui” (red osmanthus blossoms), “Hai Tang” (crabapple blossoms) and “Mu Dan” (red peonies) emanate a delicious, airy, puffy aura of perfume that captures the floral essence of a Chinese garden. At the base, a woody accord inspired by Chinese red dalbergia wood furniture, together with ambergris, serves as a foundation for the other notes.
