Introducing Le Palais Guanghan, a name inspired by the mythical moon palace in Chinese folklore. This scent composition delves into the rich assemblage of folklore, myths, and customs associated with the moon palace and the traditional moon-appreciating festival. It weaves together the legend of the osmanthus tree, the eternal struggle of Wu Gang, the enchanting tale of Chang’E, and the mystical presence of the Jade Bunny, creating an olfactory journey that brings these timeless stories to life. According to legend, the osmanthus tree once thrived solely on the moon in the Guanghan Palace as a divine symbol, admired for its eternal beauty and fragrance. Wu Gang, an exiled sage, was condemned to endlessly chop down this self-regenerating celestial tree as punishment for his transgressions. Despite his relentless efforts, Wu Gang never succeeded in his task. Over time, he crafted osmanthus wine and eventually spread both the osmanthus tree and the enchanting osmanthus wine to the human realm.
Inspired by this Chinese folklore, Le Palais Guanghan proudly presents our unique osmanthus trio - a sophisticated blend of three distinct osmanthus flower extracts: golden, red, and silver osmanthus. These natural extracts capture the intricate, three-dimensional essence of the osmanthus blooming season, vividly bringing to life the beauty of the fragrant scenery of the Mid-Autumn Festival. This traditional Chinese festival is dedicated to appreciating the moon and celebrating the autumn harvest. The Mid-Autumn Festival falls on the fifteenth day of the eighth month of the traditional Chinese lunisolar calendar, coinciding with the full moon. Each year on this special day, people engage in the cherished tradition of moon gazing, marveling at the luminous full moon. The beauty of osmanthus flowers is also celebrated, with their delicate fragrance permeating the festivities. This appreciation extends to the enjoyment of osmanthus wine, a traditional beverage infused with the blossoms, enhancing the sensory experience of the festival and deepening the connection to its cultural roots. Traditionally, osmanthus wine is made in two ways: using Chinese rice wine or Chinese Amur grape wine, both infused with fresh osmanthus flowers. Le Palais Guanghan showcases the beauty of both methods by utilizing our custom-developed extracts of Chinese rice wine and Chinese Amur grape wine, both brewed authentically in the classical style. This creative blend olfactorily brings the divine lunar osmanthus wine to life, capturing its essence with a unique and intriguing boozy osmanthus effect laced with delicate, well-balanced, sweet-tart fruity notes from the wines. Additionally, pomelo, a must-have fruit during the Mid-Autumn Festival, further adds a refreshing citrus note to the overall composition. To provide more depth and richness to our composition, we further incorporate a special melange of custom-developed natural Qi-Nan oils, harmoniously blended with finely aged white sandalwood, jiangzhenxiang, oakwood, orris butter and amber. This complex blend creates a sophisticated and multi-layered foundation for the overall composition, echoing with the heart of the composition that embodies the spirit of the festival. According to folklore, a divine creature known as Yutu the Jade Bunny resides in the Guanghan Palace, believed to be either a companion of Chang’E or even an incarnation of Chang’E herself. Inspired by this legend, we have included a blend of natural animalistic materials to olfactorily evoke the furry, cuddly and radiant essence of the Jade Bunny. This delicate blend adds an adorable, comforting, graceful and ethereal dimension to the scent composition, reminiscent of the Jade Bunny's mystical presence. Deeply rooted in and inspired by the cultural aspects of the Mid-Autumn Festival and the collection of folklore and myths surrounding it, Le Palais Guanghan imaginatively portrays the mesmerizing olfactory scenes of this festive season. This scent composition not only celebrates tradition but also brings to life the captivating stories and rich heritage of this widely celebrated and beloved festival.
