Authentic custom-distilled oud oils are dosed generously in each composition of the Imperial Oud Collection, pairing fine oud oils with other phenomenal essences to create the most luxurious scents that befit royalty.

Oud Meihouwang draws inspiration from one of the four renowned literary works in Chinese history, "The Journey to the West". Rooted in the captivating narrative of the novel's protagonist, Sun Wukong, also known as the Monkey King, this scent composition unfolds across three distinct chapters, each meticulously crafted to mirror pivotal moments in the story. The first chapter of this scent composition, “花果山水帘洞”, literally "Flower-Fruit Mountain, Water Curtain Cave". Here, a myriad of carefully selected raw materials is seamlessly woven together to evoke the essence of this enchanting setting. Luscious notes of lychee, longan, pear, red dates, Chinese bayberry, and an array of other fruits mentioned in the novel grace the composition. Complementing these fruity accords are additional elements, such as walnut, ginkgo, and plum blossom, creating a sensorial journey reminiscent of the rich landscapes described in the literary masterpiece. To further encapsulate "Flower-Fruit Mountain, Water Curtain Cave" in olfactory art, the scent composition incorporates notes like old-arbor cliff cedar, pinewood, bamboo and the subtle nuances of a waterfall, enhancing the immersive experience. The earthy tones of damp Karst cave and the freshness of green moss add depth, allowing the wearer to delve into the mystical world of Sun Wukong's adventures.

The second chapter of the scent composition draws inspiration from the novel's chapters depicting “大闹天宫”, which is "The Great Havoc in Heaven". Baijiu and Chinese peach blossom wine emerge as key players. These notes intertwine, creating a heady blend that captures the essence of the tumultuous events in the storyline, with the Monkey King infiltrating the heavenly banquet, where he consumes the celestial wine reserved for the gods. His actions in heaven are pivotal moments in the narrative, showcasing both his audacity, formidable characters, as well as his supernatural abilities.

The third chapter of the scent composition pays homage to the Monkey King's captivity within the “八卦炉”, or "Eight Trigrams Furnace", by Taishang Laojun, where the Monkey King survived and obtained one of his superpowers “The Golden Fiery Eyes”. Traditional Chinese herbs associated with Taoist elixirs, including ginseng, Angelica Dahurica, Codonopsis Pilosula and a few more vital herbs are infused into the composition. This section exudes a sense of mysticism, transporting the wearer to the alchemical realms described in the novel.

Bringing all these elements together, the scent culminates with a harmonious blend of proprietary melange featuring authentic vintage oud oils and qi-nan oils. The distinctive mixture includes vintage Chinese and Hindi oud, along with Vietnamese and Chinese qi-nan, creating a bespoke olfactory experience tailored specifically to the narrative and cultural nuances of "The Journey to the West". Due to the nature and quality of the raw materials used, the scent will continue to age beautifully in the bottle with time when properly stored. A whopping 40% concentration of pure perfume oil in this extrait provides the most luxurious experience while remains easy to use at the same time. A little goes a long way. It is normal to have some sediments/separations in this scent due to the nature of the raw materials used. Just gently shake well before applying it.
