Tenmoku Collection is a special collection of scents inspired by the unique Tenmoku porcelain wares, named after Mt. Tenmoku (Mt. Tianmu) in Zhejiang Province, China. During the Song Dynasty, these porcelain wares were brought back to Japan by Japanese monks who studied Buddhism in temples in the region of Mt. Tenmoku, together with The Way of Tea. Tenmoku wares are well-known for their unique and variable patterns naturally formed in the kiln due to the kiln effects. Such variation of patterns makes each Tenmoku ware a one-of-a-kind art piece. In this collection, we translated the visual sensation of Tenmoku wares into a novel olfactory experience in the form of fine fragrance.

The third member of the Tenmoku Collection, Tenmoku III – Zhu Yan Bo Yue, obtained its name from one of the works written by the Chinese poet Bai Ju Yi, describing his private garden located in Luoyang City which comprised a bamboo forest, pond, as well as a variety of buildings and man-made structures. Inspired by the poet’s narration of his cozy and relaxing life in his private garden, Tenmoku III – Zhu Yan Bo Yue opens with a lush bamboo forest shrouded in fog, accompanied by a poetic moonlit pond adorned with fully bloomed white lotus flowers. In the heart of the scent composition, there is this finely aged “Baihao Yinzhen” silver needle tea which exudes complex notes of tea pekoes, honey and a touch of floralcy. Similar to the two preceding scents in this collection, Tenmoku III – Zhu Yan Bo Yue also features a specially built Song Dynasty imperial incense accord transcribed from a historic royal incense formulation as a tribute to the era where the Tenmoku art became prevalent. All of these notes are further complemented by a selection of luxurious materials associated with many classical Chinese incenses, namely agarwood, white sandalwood, musk and ambergris. Inspired by the ever-changing visual effects of Tenmoku porcelain, the scent would bloom and evolve in a dynamic way from the very beginning to the last bit of the dry-down. Wear this in different days, climates and surroundings and enjoy how the scent reacts and changes accordingly is definitely one of the perks and merits of having this in your collection.

It is normal to have some sediments in this scent due to the nature of the raw materials used. Just gently shake well before applying it.
